STRAWBERRY PRETZEL SALAD

Melva

Just as I promised, a recipe from the Family Reunion. This one was brought to one of the cousins get-togethers. It was really funny about this recipe. No one tasted it at lunch, it wasn't until the afternoon that it got eaten, and I mean it got eaten. It started with one lonely soul taking a piece and going Ummmm, Ohhhhhh, this is delicious, and in one fell swoop it was all gone. It was delicious.

1st Mixture
3 T. Sugar
1 ½ sticks Margarine
3 c. Pretzels (crushed coarsely)
Cream sugar and margarine then add pretzels and press into a 9x13" glass oven proof dish and bake at 350° for 10 minutes and cool completely.

2nd Mixture
1 c. Sugar
8 oz. Cream Cheese
8 oz Cool Whip
Cream sugar and cream cheese then fold in cool whip and refrigerate.

3rd Mixture
1 lg. Box Strawberry Jell-O
1 c. boiling Water
1 c. cold Water
Mix Jell-O with boiling water until it dissolves then add cold water. Refrigerate until the Jell-O has slightly thickened.
Add 2 - 10 oz. Packages thawed, frozen sliced Strawberries in a heavy syrup and mix well.

Layer the cream cheese mixture over the pretzels and pour the strawberry mixture over it. Refrigerate until firm and top with 12 oz. Container of Cool Whip. Refrigerate.

This is good enough to be a dessert too.
