GĀTEAU DE FIGUE - FIG CAKE

¼ lb. Margarine (1 stick) 
1 c. Sugar
3 Eggs (slightly beaten) 
1 qt. Canned Figs (chopped)
3 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 ½ tsp. Cinnamon
1 C Buttermilk

Cream margarine and sugar together. Add eggs and beat well.  Add figs and mix well. Mix together next 4 ingredients (dry ingredients). Mix flour mixture  alternating with buttermilk to fig mixture, and stir ingredients together really well.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out relatively clean.

Note: You can also use the Peanut Butter Frosting on this cake. It is like having a peanut butter and fig sandwich.
