I don’t think this was remotely racist – do you?

I am lucky enough to live in a very culturally diverse city, that has a very large Vietnamese and Korean population. In fact, we have an entire ‘Asian District’ that is mostly Vietnamese-run businesses, of which many (most) are restaurants.

I work as a sideline doing restaurant reviews for a local news-zine.

A new restaurant opened up in the Asian district, and I set out to review it. It was touted as a Cajun restaurant.

Well, I go there, and it is not remotely Cajun whatsoever. The ‘special’ was wok-fried shrimp fried rice, and the other dishes were similar – Asian style seafood dishes. I did a little homework, and discovered that the restaurant is owned by a family of Vietnamese people who own several other restaurants in the district. They are cooking ‘cajun’ food in a wok…

Anyhoo, in my review, I stated that this was NOT the place to go for good Cajun food, and indicated that it was in no way, shape, or form, Cajun. I said it was mediocre Vietnamese food (which it was).

I then got a nasty letter from someone who read my review that said I was just racist and didn’t like Asians. WTF?

Do you think I was out of line? I mean – this place was NOT fusion-style at all – just straight off bad quasi cajun food that bore no resemblance to what was advertised…
Just fyi – I have nothing against people from the Far East, or the cuisine they prepare. I am a notorious Pho eater, and Thai food junkie…I don’t think I was being unreasonable to expect what was advertised, and be disappointed when I didn’t get it.

Not racist at all. You gave your opinion and someone didn’t like it, and they had to find a way to attack you. I wouldn’t give it another thought.

Drug Treatments affect Millions

If you have a substance abuse problem you have to seek professional help. The Pat Moore Foundation has been helping people with substance abuse problems for 25 years. They are leaders in the world of drug treatment . So don’t try to solve your substance abuse problem alone. This goes for acne problems as well.

Accutane has been used for many years by millions for the treatment of acne. It was used for the treatment of severe cases of acne. This product made billions of dollars for its manufacturer. This was not known by many people who were prescribed its use for mild cases of acne. The people that used it felt they were using a product that was safe for use. They weren’t aware that the risks far outweighed the benefits.
The side effects of Accutane include weak skin, Alopecia, depression, suicidal tendencies, birth defects, miscarriages, back pain, joint pain, dry mucus membranes and pink just to name not even half of the list. This is a list that shows why this was only supposed to be used for severe cases. This type of behavior has generated many accutane lawsuit cases . There a specialized group of accutane lawsuit attorneys who work in this area. If you are a part of this group, an accutane attorney would know how to best help you with your situation.
How do you feel about the medication you were given? Have you seen any of the ads or TV? Were you aware of the dangerous side effects? Go to www.newsomelaw.com and you will see you are not alone.

Best thing that the US has brought to the world?

List anything (but no political stuff please, I am anti-americaned out just now) Positive rather than negative.

For example, Jazz, the electric guitar, Rock and Roll, Gospel Music, Barbeque sauce, Creole cooking, Blues music…etc…
Aussie Joe – no need to be so rude. I expect a fair number of wrong answers but seriously, sit out the questions that annoy. Look up the word positive and learn how to be so.

Most inventions EVERYWHERE are built upon the past – that’s how life and history works.
You know, pick on Americans all you like. It makes you look great. What a bunch of rude answers. And you call Americans arrogant and rude. Your governments have done horrible things as well, but I imagine it feels good to point the finger at someone else.

Probably blues and jazz. Although the United States is credited with the invention of rock and roll music, I’d have to say it’s roots probably run much deeper than U.S. culture. Come to think of it, The United States hasn’t brought very much to the world other than the first successful aircraft. Most of the inventions we use today came from a culmination of trials and experiments performed by different people from different times in different cultures.

Can some one help me find a restaurant please?

My birthday is in August..and its also the Anniversary of me and my boyfriend. Im turning 21 and this will be our 4 year anniversary. Can anyone please help me with a GREAT restaurant to go to where we have to kinda dress up, foods good, and possibly have Cajun Seafood (optional) lol..in Houston (or surrounding area)…

Well Pappadeaux (off I-10) has cajun food but it’s not the dressiest place ever. (It is nice though and if you’re 21 it might be good for your budget)

Good company seafood is a nice place (quite near pappadeaux). If you don’t care about the cajun, Benihanas is always a fun celebratory place. Yao’s (Yao Ming’s restaraunt) has good Chinese food and is pretty.

If you’re looking for something even classier and fancier I would recommend La Griglia which is a super posh Italian place on West Gray (sort of near to Downtown but not in it), or Bank (which is muy expensive but awesome).

Of course, just google downtown Houston restaraunts to search downtown but I personally don’t really like going downtown.
